Sacramento, CA -- This
summer we are hosting a 3-on-3 basketball tournament to raise funds and
awareness for My
Sister's House, a shelter for battered women and children of
Asian and Pacific Islander descent.
In April 2003, My
Sister's House began as Sacramento's first shelter for Asian
and Pacific Islander women.
Since then, the shelter and safe haven
has served
hundreds of women and children including more than 180 domestic
violence survivors in their award winning Women
to Work program. The even offer a 24/7 multi-lingual hotline
(916 428 3271).
We
are hoping for an exciting and well played tournament that will be fun
for all and help support a
worthy cause. The tournament
is
open to all Asian-
Americans age 18 and up.
Each team will consist of
a minimum of 3 players and a maximum of
4 players (i.e.
each team is allowed to have one sub). Tournament entry fee is
a
$20 donation per
person to My Sister’s House.
100% of
your entry fee goes to the
shelter. Grand
prize for the winning team is a brand-new Playstation
3 system (or
gift certificates to Best
Buy totaling $400).
The
tournament will consist of 16 teams and will be played over two nights. On
the first night, each team
will play 3 games.
Your results will
be tallied and each team
will be
ranked according to
their play. On the
second night, teams
will be seeded 1 through 16 and play
a single
elimination tournament
for the
championship.

The
tournament also has an extra feature designed to make this event even
more
fun. If
you’d rather be a spectator
than
a player you can join the
Bracket Challenge. In the style of March
Madness and the NCAA
Final
Four you can
pick which
teams you think
will win in the tournament. Scout
out all the teams during the
first night of
play and support your
picks during the championship tournament
on the second night. Entry
into the Bracket
Challenge will be a $5
donation to My Sister’s House.
Grand
prize is a $50 gift certificate to Best Buy.
The Bracket
Challenge is also open to people playing in the tournament.
Our
goal is to raise $1000 for the shelter.
Please consider joining the tournament to help
support My Sister's House.
